
Tim Schneider was born in
Melbourne. He completed his medical training at Monash
University. After working for some time at the Alfred
Hospital and Monash Medical Centre he went on to
advanced orthopaedic training with the Royal Australian
College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic
Association. He spent some time as a locum orthopaedic
surgeon in country Victoria before traveling to Texas
and Italy to complete foreign fellowships in Foot and
Ankle surgery and llizarov external fixation techniques.
He was the Foot and Ankle fellow at University of Texas
Medical Branch, Galveston Texas with a particular
interest in ankle arthroplasty, hindfoot reconstruction,
diabetic foot disease, and forefoot disorders.
He went on to take a position as visiting fellow at
Ospdedale di Lecco in Northern Italy. This is an
international centre for the study and application of
llizarov external fixation techniques.
He returned to Melbourne to take up a position as a
visiting orthopaedic surgeon at Monash Medical Centre
and Sandringham Hospital as part of the Bayside Health
Network.
He joined the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in November
2000.
Tim is interested in all aspects of foot and ankle
surgery and lower limb reconstruction. The llizarov
methods are well applied to many aspects of limb
reconstruction including management of bone loss, bone
infection, angular deformities, and length discrepancy.
